Shorthorn Commercial Breeder Award 2021

Each year the Alberta Shorthorn Association recognizes one commercial cattleman who promotes and uses Shorthorn Genetics in their herd to receive the Commercial Breeder of the Year Award.  The 2021 recipients of this award is presented to The Senetza Family.

Tina and Jason Senetza and their three children, Brianna, Ethen and Ellena live near Smoky Lake which is located 115 km northeast of Edmonton. They live on the original family homestead and their mixed farming operation consists of 2000 acres of crop land, 1000 acres of hay and 1500 acres of native pasture. They have around 350 commercial cows as well as 100 purebred Shorthorn and purebred Simmental cows. Their Shorthorn walking herd sires are produced in their own herd from some their best females. They also utilize Charolais, Simmental and Hereford bulls on their commercial Shorthorn females. They backround their weaned steers to 850 lbs and usually ship them direct off the farm in early-mid November. They love the Shorthorn cows for their docility, fertility, feed efficiency and ability to raise huge calves especially when crossed with Charolais and Simmental bulls.

They Senetza Family is very honored to have been nominated and chosen for the Commercial Shorthorn Breeder Of The Year for 2021.

Congratulations to the Senetza Family!  On behalf of the Alberta Shorthorn Association, we would like to thank you for choosing Shorthorn.
