Each year the Alberta Shorthorn Association recognizes one commercial cattleman who promotes and uses Shorthorn Genetics in their herd to receive the Commercial Breeder of the Year Award. The 2019 recipients of this award is presented to The Wolff Family. The Wolff family has been farming for over 100 years in Dapp, Ab, which located about a one hour north of Edmonton. They are a mixed farming operation and seed approximately 500 to 600 acres of grains and oilseeds as well as put up feed for their cows. They run 120 cows and background all their calves. Gussie and Faye Adam were presented with the Legend of Breed award by the Alberta Shorthorn Association (ASA) at its annual general meeting and field day hosted June 15 at Prospect Hill Shorthorns, run by Les and Shelley Peterson, near Meeting Creek. “This is was very unexpected, and we are so honored by this award. Each year the Alberta Shorthorn Association chooses one commercial cattle breeder to receive the Shorthorn Commercial Breeder Award. These are people who have chosen to use predominantly Shorthorn Genetics in their cattle herd. This year the recipients of this award are Jim & Bernadette Spearin and Jaret and Keeara King for their work in promoting Shorthorn genetics in their herd.
