About the event

The purpose of this program is to encourage long-term youth involvement in Shorthorn genetics by supporting junior members in acquiring high-quality registered Shorthorn cattle and frozen genetics (semen/embryos), while strengthening herd development and breed advancement within the junior membership.
Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
● Must be a junior member in good standing of the Canadian Junior Shorthorn Association for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years
● Must be actively involved in Shorthorn cattle projects or breeding programs
● Must remain in good standing at the time of application and award Eligible Purchases A. Live Cattle Purchase Credit
● The animal must be a registered Shorthorn
● Must be transferred into the junior member’s name and remain in the junior’s ownership for a minimum of two years following purchase
● Credit applies only to the purchase price of the animal (Shipping, insurance, and other costs are excluded) B. Frozen Genetics Credit
● Must originate from registered Shorthorn cattle recognized through the Canadian Shorthorn Association
● Eligible for: ○ Semen purchases ○ Embryo purchases
● Credit applies only to the semen or embryo purchase price (Shipping, handling, transfer, flushing, or other associated fees are not eligible)
